Gravitational Collapse and Equilibrium Conditions of a Toroidal Vortex with Thermal Pressure
نویسندگان
چکیده
We found the equilibrium conditions for a self-gravitating toroidal vortex by taking thermal pressure into account. These conditions are shown to significantly differ from those for a disk or a sphere. The evolution of a thin vortex turns it into a compact vortex that loses mechanical stability for low masses at a polytropic index γ < 4/3 but retains stability for sufficiently high masses and densities determined by the velocity circulation in the vortex. c © 2003 MAIK “Nauka/Interperiodica”.

On the Evolution and Gravitational Collapse of a Toroidal Vortex
The evolution and collapse of a gaseous toroidal vortex under the action of self-gravitation are considered using the Hamiltonian mechanics approach. It is shown that evolution occurs in three main stages separated by characteristic time scales. First, a compression along the small radius to a quasi-equilibrium state takes place, followed by a slower compression along the large radius to a more...
متن کاملQuasars: a supermassive rotating toroidal black hole interpretation
A supermassive rotating toroidal black hole (TBH) is proposed as the fundamental component of quasars and other jet-producing active galactic nuclei. Rotating protogalaxies gather matter from the central gaseous region leading to the birth of massive toroidal stars, the internal nuclear reactions of which proceed very rapidly. Once the nuclear fuel is spent, gravitational collapse produces a sl...
متن کاملGeneral Relativistic MHD Simulations of the Gravitational Collapse of a Rotating Star with Magnetic Field as a Model of Gamma-Ray Bursts
We have performed 2.5-dimensional general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations of the gravitational collapse of a magnetized rotating massive star as a model of gamma ray bursts (GRBs). This simulation showed the formation of a disk-like structure and the generation of a jet-like outflow inside the shock wave launched at the core bounce. We have found the jet is accelerated by the...
متن کاملPrediction of Extrusion Pressure in Vortex Extrusion Using a Streamline Approach
Vortex extrusion (VE) is a severe plastic deformation technique which is based on the synergies between high strain accumulation and high hydrostatic pressure. Such a high amount of pressure, places a mandate to seek the method for investigation of the load under processing conditions. For this, kinematically admissible velocity field and upper bound terms based on Bezier formulation are develo...
متن کاملThermo - Gravitational Equilibrium
Acknowledging that what is currently defined as ‘pressure’ should not have reason to exist without the existence of a gravity field, the connection between thermodynamics and gravity can be easily made clear. Comprehensive thermo-gravitational equilibrium conditions may be defined without raising any doubt about the validity of the conventional thermodynamic and gravitational equilibrium condit...
